About Us
The STA is a pioneering initiative of the Engineering Faculty at the Christian-Albrechts Universty (CAU) in Kiel, and the North German Initiative Nanotechnology (NINa SH e.V.). It is supported by the Ministry of Economy, Transport, Labour, Technology and Tourism of Schleswig-Holstein, and its main goal is to address labour shortage in the state and foster economic growth by integrating international talent.
The two key problems we strive to solve with this project are:
- The increasingly severe shortage of qualified workers in most branches of industry.
- The hurdles faced by international professionals to join German education and job market.
Our mission is to facilitate strategic partnerships between talented students and local companies, contributing to sustainable development and economic vitality of the region. From over 20 years of experience receiving highly-qualified and motivated professionals into our international master’s programmes, we concluded the best way to achieve this goal is to facilitate their entry into the job market. Since they already have a bachelor’s degree and, in many cases, work experience in technical areas, they bring knowledge that can be further developed by their studies and their work in German companies.
The STA has the unique advantage of being able to connect industry with academia through the students. For the companies interested in exploring possibilities of technology transfer, this is a unique opportunity to work with the research groups at the CAU.
